United Nations Day

24 October is United Nations Day.

The Charter of the United Nations came into force 71 years ago today. The United Nations Global Compact is a UN initiative which UNICBLUE is also involved in! Based on 10 universal principles, it pursues the vision of an inclusive, sustainable economy to the benefit of people, communities and markets – both now and in the future.

 As a UN initiative, the UN Global Compact provides a unique framework in which to talk across industries and borders about how globalisation can be fair and what strategies and activities can be adopted to make the vision come true. The initiative is not a certifiable standard or instrument of regulation, however: it is an open forum for initiating change processes and sharing ideas. Engaged in national networks, participants develop concrete solutions to contribute to the global vision of the UN Global Compact.
